It has been half a year since we swallowed our first red pill. Here's another one:

Our Matrix Island has more prisoners per capita than any other developed country, except United States (which, of course, is a country where an accused has lots of rights including the right to remain silent, the right to have a lawyer before talking etc).

We read about DNA- exonerated cases in other countries, but not a single such case has occured on this Matrix Island. Each and every prisoner on this Island for the past 40 years, had been rightly convicted! How amazing!!!
Are you sure innocent people do not end up in prison or on death row, in a system where lawyers have no access to the accused until the police has finished extracting "confessions" from prisoners and where "cold room torture" is common knowledge?
Are you sure your kids will not make any small mistake in life, mistakes that result only in probation and not prison/execution in other countries?
This human battery is not so sure!

We are only number 2 when it comes to execution. That's no good. We must always by number 1! We should all work harder. A good salary raise will help provide some motivation.
I'm no statistician or mathematician (Math is my worst subject), but I think we need to put into context the figures used in comparison where a country like the US has a population of 300 million vs. Singapore's population of 4 million. So in my non mathematical mind, Singapore's rate of prisoners in jail would far exceed that of the US. So here again we are No. 1 in the world, just what like the pap always like to brag, isn't it?

Luckily the figures are "per capita", meaning that they have divided it by the number of people in the country, so that for every 100,000 people in USA, there are 715 prisoners, while for every 100,000 people in Singapore, there are 388 prisoners. So our rate is indeed lower than USA. BUT, there are hidden statistics not revealed e.g. prisoners under preventive detention (non-political "criminals" who have not been pronounced guilty by the court), ISA (political "criminals") are not included. Also, as mentioned in the blog, in US, an accused has lots more legal rights.
